Tim Hawkinson

Tim Hawkinson (1960 - ) is an American sculptural artist. His themes include his own body, music, and the passing of time, as well as his artistic engagement with material, technique, and process. Many of his pieces are mechanized (the mechanism usually fully on view), or involve sound.

His piece in which he utilized his own nail clippings to construct a bird skeleton is particularly fascinating to me. I love the idea of something so organic - using something from your body you no longer need to create art. I also deeply envy such the gift of possessing such meticulous diligence.
